AUSTRALIA AMARCORD - MELBOURNE (Part 4)

FAMILY JEWELS... We spent several hours inside the exhibition. It was like being in heaven/hell for us, with all those memorabilia and rarieties... Everything was related to AC/DC from the early days to the Black Ice tour... We went back 3 times.

AMARCORD AUSTRALIA - MELBOURNE (Part 1)

AMARCORD meas "I remember" in several Italian dialects, including Abruzzese! We use the title of this Fellini's movie for a series of posts on the AC/DC Abruzzo blog about our memories from the Black Ice Tour. We will share stories and exclusive videos and photos and much more....

AUSTRALIA 2010

Australia was the highlight of the whole Black Ice Tour for AC/DC Abruzzo. What a memorable experience to see 11 shows in AC/DC's homeland! Every city and every place we went to seemed to have some connection with AC/DC...

AC/DC ABRUZZO LIFESTYLE

2900 mt above sea level...

In the morning, somewhere in Europe during the AC/DC tour.

The President: "-Where are we?"
The Secretary General: "-I don't know. What day is it today?
The President: "-Yesterday it was Bercy second night... so tomorrow it's going to be Antwerp..."

For almost two years our lifestyle was tailored to the AC/DC tour schedule. We even replaced the calendar with the list of shows, counting days in this unusual but effective way to achieve our aims. Waking up in different cities, meeting new people every day, eating exotic food, taking planes, trains almost every day...

And now that the tour is over we are living in a non-tour limbo. How long will it last? We don't know. But we are certain about one thing: we cannot just quit the "rockstar lifestyle" and AC/DC Abruzzo's principles.

So more travels, more adventures, more rock'n'roll, which will share also on this blog... After all, we have to keep in good shape for the next tour!

AC/DC ABRUZZO'S COLLECTION

The complete laminates collection from the Black Ice World Tour 2008-2010

As you can imagine after seeing 85 shows and travelling more than 26 countries we gathered a huge archive of memorabilia and audio/video material from the tour. Each object has memories and stories attached... We'll share some of them on this blog.

MALCOLM'S PICK - BIRMINGHAM 23 April, 2009

"And this is what happens to Malcolm's pick after a show..." - Takumi Suetsugu

We met Takumi, one of AC/DC's guitar techs during the 2009 arena tour, after the Birmingham show in April 2009. We knew that was probably the last AC/DC show in a small covered arena in Europe. From that day on, AC/DC would play only huge stadiums....

Takumi was very friendly, despite the late hour, and spent a few minutes with us telling about how much he loved Italy when he was there with AC/DC in March. He told us about his trip to Venice on the day off between the two Milan gigs... Then, he gave us a few picks of Malcolm and Angus including the one used by Malcolm during the Birmingham show...

The 2009 indoor tour had finally come to an end.

ONE YEAR AFTER THE END OF THE BLACK ICE TOUR...

After criss-crossing the globe for over 20 months and playing to over 5 million people, AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour came to a close in Bilbao, Spain on June 28, 2010. The Black Ice World Tour took AC/DC to 108 cities in over 28 countries. AC/DC kicked off the tour on the heels of releasing their critically lauded album Black Ice, which soared to the #1 spot on album charts in over 29 countries around the globe. The Black Ice World tour was heralded by fans and critics alike, with the Chicago Tribune calling it “a celebration of all that is great about rock ‘n’ roll,” calling the band’s music as “Rock 'n' roll that outlasts time.” Earlier this year AC/DC’s Black Ice World Tour won a Pollstar Award for Major Tour of the Year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BON!

Perth, March, 2010

Today is the 65th birthday of Bon Scott. Happy Birthday Bon!

And today, AC/DC Abruzzo blog is back, after a long break due to another short post-tour depression and a big overdose of AC/DC - Live at River Plate DVD.

Several fans have sent emails to ask us to keep our blog alive so we'll continue to post material from our 2-year journey around the world with AC/DC : more exclusive interviews, stories, photos, videos and news. And also more about the AC/DC Rock'n'Roll Fannation around the world who is waiting for the next AC/DC tour....

And yes, in London the boys confirmed there will be another tour!

Bon Scott' 65th Birthday Celebrations in Perth

As you know from our Facebook page, Bon's 65th birthday was celebrated all around the world by AC/DC fans, including in his homeland in Perth, Australia. There were several initiatives, including a free concert organized by WA Museum, Perth Cultural Centre (where the Family Jewels exhibition is currently being held) and the Bon Scott fan club by Doug Thorncroft .

MEETING AC/DC IN LONDON!

During the DVD premiere weekend in London, the AC/DC Abruzzo Steering Committee (Stefano and Matteo) were among the few lucky people who managed to meet AC/DC.

Brian and Cliff spent some time with us, bringing back some good memories from the Stockholm night back in 2009. Cliff, a real rock'n'roll British gentleman, told us that he missed the Italian flag we used to show during concerts (!!). Brian, very charming and funny as usual, mentioned some stories about cars and Italian food (and women of course!).

While Cliff confirmed he had received a copy of our Black Ice Tour Photobook Brian didn't know anything about it. And when he saw it he remained speechless! He just couldn't believe that such a great book was the result of a small project carried out by fans for fans. He signed our copy... and we signed his. :D

Angus was also in fantastic shape despite the heavy day of interviews and press. He confirmed that he had gotten his copy and gave us his thumb's up! It's always a privilege to meet Angus, the Emperor of Rock'n'Roll...

It was great to see the boys back on the road (even without playing a concert). At this point, we do have the feeling that there will be another tour soon...

Live at River Plate World Premiere! Part 4

AC/DC Abruzzo is back home after a fantastic weekend in London! It was great to be "back on the road" for this special AC/DC event even though the boys didn't play a gig (as we all secretly hoped).

But it was great to be back at the Hammersmith Apollo Theatre after 8 years from the concert that changed our life in 2003... Matteo, Andrea, Stefano and even Gianni (one of the lost founding fathers of AC/DC Abruzzo) were there. Marco of AC/DC Italia couldn't make it but he was replaced by Gabriele.

As for Orangus... well, in the end he didn't come. If AC/DC don't play is hard to convince to leave his business in Milan and go to another country to see a movie. However, Orangus' assistant was there.

It was great to see all our mates from the 2 years of the Black Ice tour, from the Rock'n'Roll Nonno to Uncle Michel, from Stonebreaker to Carole. We also saw and greeted many more friends but unfortunately we missed someone since we arrived to the theatre pretty late because of a traffic jam near Knightsbridge.

It was also cool to meet crazy hard core fans as Manuel from Mozambique who came all the way from Africa for the gig and Matthew from England, that we had met last year in Sydney... We also saw El Rana and the Spanish "delegation". They were in Fremantle with us in March 2010. After all, what we miss the most from the Black Ice tour are the fans, their stories and the unique moments with AC/DC that we share with them...

Inside the theatre, again all decorated with AC/DC logos and symbols, we felt strong emotions. We sat down in the Stalls section, not to far from where we were in 2003. We watched Ozzy introducing the band and then the whole Live at River Plate movie. The band was sitting a few metres from us, but they all left after a few songs.

At the end we met Director David Mallet. A real gentleman. And a real artist. Maybe too much of an artist (we are still having a hard time in understanding the necessity to use the split screen effect with an AC/DC live concert).

It was a great night. We spent a couple of hours in the upper bar after the show drinking tequila and hanging out with old and new friends, including Ross Young. We also met and talked for a few minutes with Bon's nephew, Paul, who attended the premiere too. Nice guy...

During the weekend in London we also managed to meet the boys in person. They all looked in great shape, especially Brian. The idea of a new album and tour sounds totally realistic...
