AC/DC Abruzzo News

AC/DC in Thailand

It's been a long time since the last AC/DC Abruzzo's blog entry. But not much has happened in the last few months.... All the fans, including us, are silently waiting for the next AC/DC album and tour. In the meantime the Vice President Andrea is working as a full time father for his daughter Agata; the Secretary General is in London attending his wine sommelier business and the President Matteo, after traveling to a dozen different countries, has finally ended up in the Middle East (but don't worry: he hasn't joined any military army yet!).

AC/DC RUMOURS

After Brian stating that the recording of the album was postponed due the illness of a member of a band all types of rumors have spread. But we've been used to this type of fake rumors, especially after waiting for five years before the Black Ice tour...

The only credible "unofficial news" is about AC/DC recording the new album at the end of 2012 beginning of 2013. The tour will take place next summer and it will be much shorter than the Black Ice tour, possibly only large venues. Fingers crossed...

AC/DC SCOTLAND's FAMILY JEWELS (part 6)

Beside Jane and Brian, with whom we attended many AC/DC concerts around the world, from New York MSG to Perth, Australia, we also met Bryce again, another hard core fan from Glasgow. While visiting the exhibition, he shared several stories with us, including those about the first time he saw AC/DC in concert (he was 3 and he was taken to the show by his father). Bryce also told us the story about Bon's Scotland scarf, given to him as a gift, together with a trophy celebrating the AC/DC sold out at the Apollo Theatre.... These two items were borrowed by the curator of the Family Jewels Exhibition and will be displayed only in Glasgow.

AC/DC SCOTLAND's FAMILY JEWELS (part 5)

The day we visited the Family Jewels exhibition another small exhibition was inaugurated. Neil, a long standing fan from Scotland, had some of his memorabilia displayed in a special section of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery, from his photo with Bon to a rare copy of "12 of the best".

AC/DC SCOTLAND's FAMILY JEWELS (part 1)

A few weeks ago AC/DC Abruzzo visited the AC/DC Family Jewels exhibition at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow, Scotland. The exhibition is FANTASTIC, even better then the Australian edition! We spent several hours surrounded by AC/DC memorabilia, as we did in February 2010 in Melbourne. We also met with good friends, Brian, Bryce and Jane reminiscing the good times of the Black Ice World Tour.

After the warm welcome of Shona MacDougall, the museum supervisor who was expecting us, we had a tour of the whole exhibition, looking together at some of the items that made the history of the greatest band in the world. We spotted some of the differences between the Glasgow edition and the Melbourne one. In particular, we really loved how the thickness of the wall of this huge historic building (much bigger than the Arts Centre in Melbourne) enhances the power of the sound of AC/DC. Watching each video, including the Live at River Plate DVD, you could feel the pure, rough live power of AC/DC!

We also loved how curator Tim Fisher and exhibition manager Fiona Bennie included the photos of our book "Black Ice World Tour 2008-2010 - 2 years on the road with AC/DC". Especially the two giant panels near the exit with the "Rock'n'Roll Fannation" photos. This was one of the additions of the Glasgow exhibition comparing to the Australian one.

We will publish all our exclusive pics of the Glasgow exhibition and more stories in the next blog entries. Including photos of the special exhibition of Bon Scott memorabilia of a Scottish fan in another room of the museum! So STAY TUNED!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM AC/DC ABRUZZO!
