Tokyo March 13 2010

Hi everybody! Yesterday AC/DC shook the foundations of Tokyo more than any earthquake that has ever hit the Japanese city before!

I went to the show with Junko Kawamura, one of the most famous opera singers in Japan (soprano). She is appreciated worldwide for her perfect rendering of the Mummy in Giuseppe Verdi's Aida. That was her first rock concert in her life. She just loved The Jack and Let there be Rock.

Thanks to our experience in the AC/DC ticket business we managed to exchange our 2 seating tickets (on the side) with 2 floor tickets. I actually quite enjoyed negotiating with female scalpers outside the venue. Yes! FEMALE scalpers!! Japan is truly an advanced country!

The Japanese audience was incredibly warm, before, during and after the show. Maybe it doesn't look like they're going to an AC/DC concert but when the concert starts they know how to rock... Almost like "latin" crowds and definitely more than the Anglosaxons.

The setlist was completely changed, with lots of improvisation and jamming by the band. They even took requests from the audience after the third encore. Unfortunately several lighting guys, technicians and stagehands committed suicide, harakiri style. Others were hospitalised in local mental institutions due to the stress overload.

Must have been a great gig, pity about the crew members though, but the whole band striping during D.T./Chase the ace must have been something really special... ..heard that many in the crowd were so exhausted at the end of the gig that they yelled Carry me home... which was misunderstood as a request, propably first and only time they played that song :-)...

  3. Hi Matteo. Would you please delete me from your friends' list? I didn't realize, when I sent the request, that other folks could see my blogspot info. I just found out when I came onto your site, from Facebook, and clicked on my picture. I prefer not to have my information shared with a lot of people right now. I looked for a place, on this page, to email you but didn't see where to do it. Maybe you don't have email or I just overlooked it. I am writing a memoir and a children's series of books that I don't want shared at this time. That is, after I get my Blogspot set up. I've got some work to do on it before I start sharing with anyone. Of course, I don't mind if Angus looks at my stuff. As your page states, "Impossible is nothing". I believe in that and it's one reason I am so persistent in meeting him someday. I would like to stay subscribed to you. So, please just delete me from friends. ...and, BTW, another awesome blog, videos and photos from the Japan tour. You're so fucking lucky man! Thanks, Barb Pruitt

  4. I think you have no idea what AC/DC songs are what. Live Wire? Down Payment Blues? Riff Raff? More than 3 encores? Requests? This is all bullshit.
