We just got back to our Arizona headquarter after a long road trip (more that 1700 km in less than 48 hours!). We are exhausted but happy because we were among the very few AC/DC fans who made it to Coachella Festival for the first AC/DC show in the last 5 years! The show was absolutely AMAZING! An unforgettable night of pure rock'n'roll!

THE CROWD

AC/DC were reportedly paid 2 million USD to play Coachella in front of crowd of youngsters in their early 20's, certainly not very interested in rock'n'roll. This hipster subculture of Coachella festival goers was something pretty new to us, as European fans. But we cannot say we didn't like it, including the crowd... Especially considering the presence of a massive number of girls, all "dressed" in the typical Coachella style. Honestly, we've never seen so many girls at a rock show!!!

AC/DC t-shirts were extremely rare. The same goes for the devil's horns during the show, only 5 or 6 in the first rows. Totally SURREAL!!! But cool at same time! Just imagine a show in which the AC/DC plays Whole Lotta Rosie and 99% of the audience doesn't scream ANGUS! A rarity for "concert collectors" like us!

It was immediately clear that the majority of the people was not at Coachella for the music, of course. The social gathering experience is way more important than who is playing on stage. AC/DC or David Guetta is the same for the audience.

The crowd responded mainly to Shook me, Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck and TNT. It looked they still enjoyed the whole show...

Many VIP's were spotted, from Clint Eastwood, to Bradly Cooper, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.

THE PLACE

Not exactly the ideal place for a concert, being in the middle of the desert. But everything was perfectly organized, from parking to the toilet area. Even too organized (and expensive) for our European taste.

The stage was small for AC/DC, similar in size to the one which was used for indoor arenas in 2008. A bit far away from the first row but still very enjoyable for us. And no catwalk! We think this was the first AC/DC complete concert without a catwalk since Hammersmith London 2003...

THE SETLIST

We couldn't be happier. AC/DC are back and they are in terrific shape! We couldn't care less about the setlist, especially considering AC/DC were so close to the end a couple of years ago! But we got to hear Have a Drink on Me and SIN CITY!!! Yes, SIN CITY!!!!!

There were a few mistakes during the concert, the most noticeable one was during Hell ain't a bad place to be. The band started slow with the first songs but they completely changed pace with Shoot to Thrill, one of the best songs of the night! The new tracks Play ball and Rock or Bust probably will sound better later on, during the tour. Baptism by Fire, on the contrary, sounds excellent already! The two gems were a gift to the AC/DC fans who were at Coachella. But we think they will be kept in the future setlists as well.

THE BAND

Honestly, after all the challenges that the band had to go through recently we were not expecting such a powerful and intense rock'n'roll show! The new lineup works extremely well on stage and you can tell they've been rehearsing together for a long time. Brian's voice is in perfect order, Slade brings back a taste of the Razor's Edge era and Stevie Young is doing pretty well in the (difficult) substitute job. Cliff is also in good shape. On the other hand, Angus is from another planet! He is more energetic and active than ever! He duckwalked almost double the time/distance of the typical Black Ice tour concert, with both his knees bleeding at the end of the show. We rarely saw him so focused and attentive. It really looks like he is feeling the high responsibility of leading this band without his brother Malcolm.

The ticket policy and the location made it quite challenging to get there but in the end it was totally worth going to see the official comeback of the greatest band in the world. Despite the compromises made, Malcolm's departure, line up changes etc... AC/DC are back on stage! And that's what really matters!!

HIGHWAY TO COACHELLA!!! ROCK OR BUST WORLD TOUR PREMIERE!

EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE FROM ANGUS TO ALL AC/DC ABRUZZO READERS!!!

IT'S FINALLY OFFICIAL!! AC/DC Abruzzo will be at Coachella for the Rock Or Bust Tour World Premiere!!!

Despite a few health challenges and after more than 28 hours of traveling by plane/car we finally managed to reach Los Angeles, California. We'll spend the night here and then head tomorrow for Indio for the opening day of the Coachella 2015 Festival where AC/DC will play their first full live set in 5 years, with a new lineup.

We are very excited to be there to witness the historic come back of the greatest band of the world even though we are all aware they chose one the most inappropriate festivals for a Rock'n'Roll band they could choose... (But you all know we are prepared to follow this band anywhere...). We'll share this unique experience with our good friend Marco Italia who was also with us at the private Dress Rehearsal in Wilkes Barre, PA in 2008.

After Bilbao 2010, AC/DC will finally hit the stage for a full concert! We can't wait! Stay tuned for exclusive pictures and full report!

AC/DC "ROCK THE BLUES AWAY" VIDEO SHOOT IN LOS ANGELES

"AC/DC will play in a tiny club in California before their world tour"
Nostranovis,  December 2014

AC/DC!

The prophecy of Nostranovis was fulfilled just a few hours ago. AC/DC DID play in a tiny club in California before the world tour. And the club chosen was "The Dragonfly club" in Hollywood, California. It was not a real concert but still the band was on stage playing for the recording of the new video clip "Rock The Blues Away" in front of less than 100 lucky fans!!! The prophet was right.

We couldn't make it because of the short notice but some of the closest AC/DC Abruzzo friends were there! Matthew from Vancouver, BC and Christian, from Buenos Aires, Argentina and, last but not least, Marco "The ACDC Italia Stallion" from Brescia, Arizona.

Argentinian craziest fan

Reportedly, the meeting point was near a cemetery and then only 3 buses were used to take the fans to the venue. Much smaller scale than London and apparently no Europeans, except one Italian.

Inside the Dragonfly it was hot as hell, apparently because they needed the A/C off for the smoke.

The meeting place: a cemetery?

Bunch of lucky fans

Christian and Matthew, two of the craziest AC/DC fans in the world, confirmed that this unique event one was even more special than the London video in October. The band was extremely energetic on stage and in a very good mood. Almost ready for the World Tour kick off!

Slade is back!

They did 5 takes with the new single "Rock The Blues Away" and 1 take with the audience only. Brian was as super friendly as usual and Angus and Stevie even came back after the last take to meet the fans and sign autographs. Chris Slade is now back with the band with an official release and, honestly, we think Angus& co made a very good choice to replace "crazy Phil", who had become a liability for the future of the band...

The video will be out in about a month according to our sources. Promotional clips and interviews will be published while waiting on the AC/DC social media.

For the moment here's some photos from the videoshoot (by Nagra Productions) and a short (but intense) video clip by Don Dean.

GRAMMY AWARDS 2015 - CHRIS SLADE AND THE PHIL RUDD MYSTERY (Part 6)

First photos leaked of Chris Slade with AC/DC (possibly from the Grammy). Dave Mallet on the right which makes us believe he will be in the next AC/DC video as well.
Not exactly the right album to sign... :)

In the past few weeks we've been watching carefully social media activity regarding the new AC/DC drummer. With only one day to go the band has not yet made any official statement about their choice.

We only got rumors circulating on Facebook and Twitter: first it was Simon Wright who was considered 100% back in the band, then Chris Slade (because of a Facebook post of someone who hired him and then cancelled the gig due to some "major changes in Chris' career"). Last but not least Phil Rudd, who was apparently spot getting on a plane to L.A. only to join AC/DC for the Grammy performance only a couple of days ago.

Well, from the photos circulating today it appears clear that Chris Slade is back with the boys. Tomorrow we will get the official answer... So wait and see!

Which songs will they play? Possibly a medley of Rock or Bust and Highway to Hell... That's our guess.

As for the new US dates, we will probably get them immediately after the Grammy Awards performance...

STAY TUNED!
